THE COUNTDOWN TO EIMA 2024 IN BOLOGNA HAS BEGUN, WITH AGRICULTURAL MACHINERY TAKING CENTRE STAGE AT AN EVENT THAT BRINGS TOGETHER THE ENTIRE FARMING COMMUNITY

Well known for its rich culinary tradition, historic architecture and excellent museums, the city of Bologna, Italy, is also home to a more specialist, non-permanent attraction – the EIMA exhibition, which has been showcasing innovations in agricultural machinery and technology since 1969.
The 46th edition of the EIMA expo will be held from 6-10 November 2024 and promises to be one of the largest ever with 1,500 exhibitors already on board. “Over the years, EIMA has established itself as one of the leading events not only in the agricultural machinery sector but also in the trade fair scene in every sense,” says Simona Rapastella, general director of FederUnacoma, the organization behind the event.
The BolognaFiere venue will showcase over 50,000 different types of cutting-edge farm machinery and equipment across 14 product sectors. From tractors to tillage machinery, harvesters to livestock management systems, EIMA covers the entire spectrum of agricultural mechanization.
What’s new?
EIMA isn’t just about size – it’s also about innovation. This year, visitors can look forward to a new addition: the REAL (Robotics and Electronics for Agriculture Live) area. Here, the future of farming will take flight with live demos of drones and agricultural robots pushing the boundaries of possibility in the field.

The show floor is split into ‘salons’ with themes such as Green (landscaping), Idrotech (irrigation) and Bioenergy. Vehicle engineers won’t want to miss the Digital salon, featuring the latest in agricultural electronics, and the Componenti (components) salon, showcasing the leading suppliers to the industry.
“Innovation is the strong point of EIMA International,” says Rapastella. “The 2024 edition will feature the prestigious competition-exhibition of Technical Innovations, demonstrations for bioenergy supply chains, and the Tractor of the Year announcement.”
The tractor competition is a hotly anticipated annual event which takes place at a different agricultural expo each year on a rotating basis. This, along with demonstrations of |bioenergy supply chains and the Green E-motion trials for gardening machines, help to firmly underscore EIMA’s role as a launchpad for agricultural advancements.
EIMA’s reputation, built over the past 50 years and more, is well earned –the 2022 edition saw a record-breaking 330,000 attendees from 80 countries. This year, with the industry poised for growth despite ongoing global challenges, the event is expected to draw even greater numbers.
Knowledge exchange
Beyond the impressive machinery on display, EIMA 2024 is an important forum for industry dialogue. Over 150 conferences and workshops will tackle issues facing the industry, from rising production costs to the impact of geopolitical tensions. These sessions will bring together vehicle designers and engineers with their suppliers and customers as well as enabling them to connect with trade organisations and academics.

EIMA 2024 promises to be another vital showcase of innovation and technology that helps to create the agricultural machinery of today and tomorrow. With the countdown to November underway, the industry eagerly anticipates what may well be the most impressive EIMA yet.
