AS COVID-19 TOOK HOLD, SO ENGINEERS STEPPED UP TO THE PLATE…
AEM ENABLES PPE ACCESS
The question of how to safely re-open construction sites in the USA was addressed as we went to press by the Association of Equipment Manufacturers (AEM). The organisation has teamed up with the Marek Group to provide a hub for businesses to find Covid-19-related essential supplies, including personal protective equipment (PPE), sanitising gels and display graphics to promote and protect safety in the workplace.
“For manufacturers and other businesses, the health and safety of their employees and customers in the workplace is paramount,” said Jaime Vos, director of safety materials programme at the AEM. “This is why we’re providing access to safety supplies to support them during this critical time.”
AEM members are eligible for a 10% discount on safety supplies via the AEM’s online store. All orders across the USA will be fulfilled by the Wisconsin-based Marek Group. While personal protective equipment is the first line of defence, display graphics outlining best practices and company safety policies are an essential means of communication to manage the safety of colleagues and customers.
“We have been partners with AEM for 20 of the 50 years we’ve been in business, so we have earned trust in our ability to deliver,” said Fuzzy Marek, CEO of The Marek Group.
CNH INDUSTRIAL PLEDGES US$2M
CNH Industrial is donating US$2 million to the CNH Industrial Foundation whose goal is to provide financial support to charitable organisations operating in local education, health and disaster relief during the Covid-19 pandemic.

This pledge is in addition to the company’s ongoing donations of medical equipment supplies, including ventilators, personal protective equipment, electrical generators and ambulances, to healthcare providers in the regions in which the company operates. To demonstrate solidarity with its workforce, the CNH Industrial senior management team has elected to forego temporarily part of its compensation. The company’s board of directors has agreed not to take any of their remuneration for the rest of year.
CELEBRATING ENGINEERING HEROES

MA Business, the UK’s largest publisher of engineering titles, is launching a new initiative to celebrate the people, companies and technologies that have been behind engineering’s massive contribution to fighting the Covid-19 pandemic. The publisher of iVT is bringing this title together with its sister engineering brands to launch #EngineeringHeroes, a campaign that will culminate in a special one-off magazine later this year, to honour the unsung heroes helping front-line workers.
